Deceleration Time
Configured time for the drive to ramp between defined high and low frequency reference points.
The Explain card
- Plain English
- Deceleration time is how long the drive takes to ramp down, usually from maximum to zero. Every decrease in the reference, including a ramp stop, is spread over it.
- Example
- A fan is set to a 60 second deceleration. Press stop and it takes a full minute to wind down, because a shorter ramp would regenerate more than the bus can absorb.
- Why it matters
- Deceleration is where energy comes back, so a short ramp on a heavy load means overvoltage trips or a braking resistor. Stall prevention stretches it silently, which is why the stop you programmed and the stop you get can differ.
