Coast Stop
Stop method that disables inverter output and lets the motor slow according to load inertia and friction.

- Plain English
- A coast stop switches the inverter off and lets the motor slow down on its own. Friction and the load decide how long it takes.
- Example
- A big fan on coast stop takes four minutes to come to rest after the command. A small pump with a lot of friction stops in a couple of seconds.
- Why it matters
- Coasting regenerates nothing, so it never trips the drive, and it is what most drives do on a fault or a safety stop. It is also uncontrolled, so a load that should stop in a known time or place cannot be left to coast.
