Slip Compensation
Automatic frequency adjustment that reduces induction-motor speed change as load torque changes.

- Plain English
- Slip compensation raises the output frequency slightly as load increases, so the shaft speed stays where the setpoint asked for it. The drive estimates load from current and adds the frequency the slip would have lost.
- Example
- A conveyor set for 1750 rpm slows to 1720 when it is fully loaded in plain V/Hz mode. With slip compensation on, the drive pushes the frequency up by a hertz and the belt holds 1750.
- Why it matters
- It gives open loop drives most of the speed accuracy of a vector drive on steady loads. Set too high it overcompensates and hunts, and on a load that regenerates it can push the wrong way.
