- A startup builds its support bot on a hosted general-purpose model. Thousands of other companies use the same endpoint. The startup controls its prompts and keys, but not the underlying model, its update schedule, or how its data is handled in transit and at rest.
- Why it matters
- Shared infrastructure means shared risk: data handling depends on the vendor's terms, model updates can change behavior overnight, and keys become the main boundary. Defenders review contracts, data retention and key management closely.
