- A private model is an AI model deployed in a logically isolated environment, dedicated to one organisation rather than shared with other customers.
- Example
- A bank runs a language model inside its own virtual private cloud, with no traffic leaving its network and no vendor retaining prompts. Sensitive documents can be processed without the data ever touching a shared service.
- Why it matters
- Isolation reduces exposure of data and prompts, but it shifts responsibility: patching, monitoring, access control and securing model weights now belong to the organisation. Defenders gain control and inherit the operational burden with it.

- A private model is your own house: no neighbours, but you fix the roof.
