Overtemperature

Trip caused when measured drive, heat-sink, or motor temperature exceeds a configured safe limit.

Plain English
An overtemperature trip means a measured temperature, on the heat sink, inside the drive, or from a motor sensor, has gone past its limit. The drive stops before the part is damaged.
Example
A drive in a sealed cabinet on an August afternoon trips on heat sink overtemperature at three in the afternoon, every day. It runs fine the rest of the year.
Why it matters
The trip is almost always the environment, a failed fan, or a clogged heat sink, and almost never the drive itself. Fix the airflow and the trips stop, and replace the drive and the new one trips the same way.
