Overtemperature
Trip caused when measured drive, heat-sink, or motor temperature exceeds a configured safe limit.
The Explain card
- Plain English
- An overtemperature trip means a measured temperature, on the heat sink, inside the drive, or from a motor sensor, has gone past its limit. The drive stops before the part is damaged.
- Example
- A drive in a sealed cabinet on an August afternoon trips on heat sink overtemperature at three in the afternoon, every day. It runs fine the rest of the year.
- Why it matters
- The trip is almost always the environment, a failed fan, or a clogged heat sink, and almost never the drive itself. Fix the airflow and the trips stop, and replace the drive and the new one trips the same way.

- The drive telling you the cabinet is too hot.
