- Artificial intelligence is the broad field of building machines that can work out how to solve problems and analyse situations without a human spelling out every step.
- Example
- A fraud detection system at a bank learns what normal card activity looks like and flags a midnight purchase in another country, with no analyst writing a rule for that exact case.
- Why it matters
- Once software decides things on its own, attackers stop targeting only the code and start targeting the reasoning: the data it learned from, the inputs it sees, and the outputs people trust.

- AI is software that figures out the "how" itself, so you must defend the thinking, not just the code.
