- A platform engineer provides the shared infrastructure that teams use to experiment with and deploy AI safely: compute, storage, networking, identity and the guardrails around them.
- Example
- They build the internal AI platform with isolated GPU workspaces, a secrets manager, network policies that keep training jobs away from production data, and templates that give every new project logging and access control by default.
- Why it matters
- Secure defaults at the platform layer protect every team at once. If the platform enforces isolation and least privilege, individual projects cannot easily opt out.
